A Trip to Lambasingi

Updated: Nov 15, 2023

Lambasingi, a village near Chintapalli renowned as the coldest place in Andhra Pradesh, was our chosen destination for a family gathering. Despite having the option to travel by car, my cousin and I embarked on a winter morning motorcycle journey, a decision that added an extra layer of excitement to our adventure. The chilly weather did little to deter our spirits as we relished every moment of the trip.

Fully equipped for the journey, we set out on the National Highway from Visakhapatnam at 6 am. Passing through Anakapalli, we reached Tallapalem in less than an hour. Taking a right turn at Tallapalem junction, our route continued toward Narsipatnam. Amidst the journey, we found ourselves on a quaint bridge overlooking a stream, surrounded by enchanting fog-kissed landscapes. The scenery had a mesmerising effect on us, prompting a pause to soak in the beauty before resuming our journey. Despite the rugged terrain between Tallapalem and Narsipatnam, the ride from the latter to Lambasingi proved comfortable.

Arriving in Narsipatnam at 7:30 am, we took some time to explore the place before progressing towards Lambasingi. The well-maintained roads between Narsipatnam and Lambasingi provided a delightful ride. Fifteen kilometers into the journey, the true essence of the Ghats unfolded as we ascended uphill, encountering exhilarating hairpin bends and playful troops of monkeys. Reaching Lammasingi (Y-junction) at 9:15 am, the fifteen-kilometer Ghat road promised an adrenaline rush for thrill-seekers and nature enthusiasts alike.

Our decision to visit Lambasingi brought about a surprising change in temperature as we entered the road leading to the village. Although the topography remained unchanged, we distinctly felt a drop in the mercury level.

While not reaching sub-zero temperatures, Lambasingi offered a unique charm. A small village consisting of a handful of houses, it was not an Araku, but rather an experience centered around the chill factor. Our journey unfolded dreamy roads, glimpses of rural life, picturesque landscapes, a quaint reservoir at Tajangi village, coffee estates at Rajupakalu, star-lit skies, and, above all, the warm hospitality of the locals.

PS: Lambasingi is best experienced in winter.
